About Library Department

LDC law library exists to facilitate the Academic, Training, Law Reporting & Research functions of the Centre by providing relevant & timely legal information in both print and electronic format. The library is stocked with more than 15,000 volumes of books which include; law reports, bulletins, textbooks, periodicals, laws both local and foreign, and research papers.

The library is open to students from universities offering law as well as the legal fraternity including advocates, judges, magistrates, scholars/researchers and government officials.

Law development center comprises of two Libraries thus Main campus at Kampala and Mbarara Library campus. It is a closed access Library with a special collection of information resources on legal information. Library facilitates and supports the academic, Law reporting and research functions of the centre by availing an assortment of relevant legal materials in both print and electronic formats.

Library Objectives

  • To acquire legal information materials in both hard and soft copies from local and international sources.
  • To electronically process, store, retrieve and make accessible up to date legal information and
  • To provide a conducive environment for reading and research by using the appropriate as well as functional IT equipment, furniture and buildings.

  • Odunga’s digest etc.
  • Judgments of High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and Constitutional Court.

This section has collections on Law Reports like:

  • Textbooks, High Court Bulletins
  • News Papers
  • Court Forms
  • Newspapers etc.

Computer Laboratory

This section gives access to Online Law materials

  • Annual Per student from other institutions 200,000/=
  • Annual subscription to non- students 500,000/=

Opening Hours

Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 1:00pm, 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Saturdays: 9:00am – 1:00pm, 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Sundays: 9:00pm – 1:00pm, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Public Holidays: closed
