350 students graduated on April 12 with a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre (LDC) Mbarara Campus.
“As you join the legal profession, remember that you have been nurtured excellently and the very excellence instilled in you should be carried and seen throughout your professional journey and actions,” said the State Minister for Public Service, Hon. Grace Mary Mugasa, during the ceremony at the LDC Mbarara Campus. She represented Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
In Rt. Hon. Tayebwa’s speech, read by Mugasa, the Deputy Speaker congratulated the graduates and urged them to build onto the foundation they received from LDC. He called upon the graduates to always strive for excellence through interactions. He commended LDC for embracing decentralisation and creating regional campuses across the country. He added that this is a reflection of excellence in the institution and a manifestation of achieving its mission and mandate.
The Chairperson LDC Management Committee, Rt. Hon. Justice Paul Kahaibale Mugamba, said that the ceremony is a beacon of triumph, representing the culmination of graduates’ relentless hard work, sacrifice and dedication over the last one year.
The Director LDC, Mr Frank Nigel Othembi, congratulated those who excelled and received prizes for their achievement. He said this exemplifies LDC’s theme: “EXCELLENCE. ALWAYS.” He advised all the graduates to be ambassadors of LDC by portraying professional ethics in the different spheres that they will be placed and called upon them to aim at being excellent in all they do.
The overall first, second and third best graduates in the 51st graduation ceremony among the three campuses of Lira, Kampala and Mbarara came from Mbarara Campus. Notably, Aine Linda Agnes was the best overall student. She received the Chief Justice’s Prize.
