The LDC Publishers Section was established in January 1973 to aid the Law Development Centre in fulfilling one of its statutory functions; Publishing periodicals, bulletins, digests or other written material concerned with legal and related matters for use by law students, members of the legal profession and the general public.
LDC Publishers consists of three main units complementary to each other; Publishing, the Printing Press and the Bookshop.
This committee is at an administrative level of the Law Development Centre responsible for implementing, monitoring, evaluation and review of the policies relevant to Publishers department.
Publishers as a Section of the LDC, draws its mandate from the LDC Act (CAP 132).
Its main objective is to assist in the fulfillment of one of the statutory functions of the Centre which includes; Publishing periodicals, bulletins, digests or other written material concerned with legal and related matters for use by law students, members of the legal profession and the general public.
LDC Publishers mainly complements the Department of Law Reporting and Research to publish Law reports, re-prints of Acts of Parliament and other Legal Publications necessary for the curriculum of the institution and the general public.
In addition, as the In-plant printer of LDC, the section also produces educational, administrative and marketing material for LDC to aid in the daily running of the Centre.
To be the leading publishers and information resource of legal and other publications in Uganda.
“To provide continuous updated legal information for Justice, Law and Order to prevail in Uganda.”
Our values build the foundation that drives every decision and action we make and influence how we treat each other and our stakeholders.
Publishing | Print Production | Book Sale and Distribution
At present, the LDC Publishers’ business model is based on the successful cohesion of these three complementary business aspects, i.e., Publishing, Print Production and Distribution (Book shop).
