In a bid to expose our Clinical Legal Education (CLE) students to practical aspects of the law, the Lira CLE students visited APAC where there is an on-going High Court criminal session by Justice George Okello.
The students had an opportunity to interact with the judge, state attorneys, prison officers and assessors. During the same session, the students witnessed our Legal Officer (Ms. Brenda Nakibira) secure a release of an accused person who had been on remand since 2020 on charges of aggravated defilement.
In a related story, the Legal Aid Clinic Lira also undertook a school outreach at Adyel Primary School in Lira City West. The pupils have been empowered with information about their rights and obligations under the law.
