The LDC Mbarara Legal Aid Clinic (LAC) team stepped up efforts to address money lending challenges through public sensitisation. The team appeared on a radio talk show on UBC Radio West to educate the public about issues surrounding money lending. The discussion focused on unfair lending practices, disputes, and the lack of awareness about borrowers’ rights and obligations; challenges that have repeatedly emerged during the team’s legal aid activities in the field.
According to Mbarara LAC, public engagement is essential in tackling these issues and ensuring that both lenders and borrowers understand their responsibilities. The initiative aimed at promoting responsible borrowing, lending, and equipping the community with the knowledge needed to handle financial transactions effectively.
As the session concluded, the team received several phone calls, highlighting the urgency of the issue. The team assured listeners that legal aid services remain available for those seeking guidance, urging them to make informed financial decisions.
